New Beginnings

If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.
-Author Unknown

Changes are always difficult. It's so much easier to just keep doing what we've always done. Why? Think of it like stepping outside and walking down the sidewalk to get your mail in just your underwear. We feel so vulnerable! We would rather do what we know we are good at and what feels comfortable to us. But where does this lead us? It leads us into a routine lifestyle where we end up only taking in breaths of the stale air in which we are familiar with. It leaves no room for fresh air to showcase our true colors in a world where God placed us for a purpose !

This is the place I'm at right now in life. Starting a new career is a scary thought for me. I will be the first one to admit that I am okay with routine in my life. It's comfortable, safe, and it's what I know.
However, I will also tell you that once I get out of my safety boat and jump into the dark waters full of risk I usually end up happier than when I was in my boat.

Here's the beauty in it, we have nothing to lose!
Except for maybe a few miserable people in our previous journey that were only holding us back and who needs them anyways!?
We get a fresh start, an open door, a new beginning!

Maryn Dawn

What a delightful weekend this has been.
My dear cousin Maryn Dawn made the trip in to visit me before she heads off to start her career in Indiana.
Being an older cousin somewhat feels like being an older sister at times (minus the arguments).
With us, it's always been hair and make up, hand-me down clothes, and juicy stories.
Nothing has changed.
Her contagious giggles, sensitive heart, and lovable hugs are just a few things I love about this girl.
I am so proud of who she is.
Beautiful. Inside and out.

Simplicity

When I look at this picture I think.... Simple.

It is a much needed rainy day here, and I like to think of it as my simplistic day.
Everyone needs a simplistic day now and again to gather life's pieces and organize them.
slow down. kick your feet up.
For me, it consists of staying in doors with a lit candle, reading, reflecting, organizing.
I hope everyone can slow life down and have a simplistic day to call their own.
Simple. As. That.

Coffee Filter Wreath

Holy Sweat Monkey!
Can you believe this heat wave we are having? I can't even go outside without feeling a loss of air in my lungs. Glasses fog up, pits start sweating, and no one lives up to the term good looking.  The saying "it's so hot outside you could fry an egg" would be pretty accurate right about now.
So what does Tessa do when its 105 degrees outside? Crafts of course!

A wreath made from coffee filters.
I have seen these things all over blog land and decided it would be a good day to try and make one.
Here is a tutorial if you want to try one for yourself!

Best of luck dear friends and stay cool !
